A quick look at the first stage of the Tour de France
While the average wattage for most riders would be around the 4 watts per kilo range it doesn’t reflect the dozens of short efforts of 30 seconds-5 minutes or more (at up to 10 watts per kilo for the shorter efforts and 6+ watts per kilo for the longer ones). The course was pretty lumpy with lots of short climbs and narrow roads, producing plenty of power spikes.

These are just Strava predicted power figures, so they need to be taken with a grain of salt.
